School Ethos and Standards
Choosing a primary school for your child is one of the most important decisions you
will take on his/her behalf.
The information provided here will help you to decide whether this is the right school for
your child, or perhaps to reassure you that you have already made the right decision.
We have an exceptionally positive, hard-working staff, teaching and non- teaching, who are
dedicated to ensuring the best education for all the children in our care.
We have enormous support from parents, governors, the children and the community. We work
in partnership with all of these people. We work hard and enjoy our work and this really
is a school where things get done.
Although we know that education is a serious business we strive to make this a place that
pupils, staff and all others like to come to. This is achieved by ensuring an ethos where
fairness, hard work and a sense of humour are always evident.
This a school where people come first. We care about what people think and how they feel
and we make time for them.
Finally the children here are creative. They are lively, motivated and caring and I have
no reservations about recommending them as workmates and friends for your child. Please
do, though, come and visit the school and see what makes our school a very special place.
Parental involvement in the life of the school is very good and the pupils
learning is enriched by some very good links with the local community Ofsted

Ethos, Rules and Discipline
Dundry primary School l has a reputation for being a well ordered and caring community
where children and adults respect each other, take responsibility for themselves and each
other, and strive to do their best. We aim to create an atmosphere of both order and
freedom, where learning can take place without disruption. Each child is encouraged to
become self-disciplined and demonstrate a regard for property and the rights and feelings
of others. Rules are kept to a minimum, but where they exist everyone is fully aware of
them, the reasons for them and the consequences of breaking them.
Children are encouraged to demonstrate the moral values which will allow them to become
responsible members of society. The positive ethos of the school is fostered by
reinforcing good behaviour, through praise, encouragement and special privileges.
Non-compliance is dealt with promptly and in an appropriate manner, by helping the child
to manage his/her own behaviour and to recognise the consequences of it. In the rare cases
where more serious breaches of discipline occur, parents will always be informed and
involved from an early stage.
The personal development of pupils is good; they work together well and older
pupils have particularly mature attitudes and form good relationships. There
is a very positive atmosphere within the school and a willingness to work together Ofsted

School Uniform
Dundry Primary School has a simple and inexpensive uniform, consisting of a blue
polo shirt or sweat shirt with the school logo printed on and appropriate
trousers or jogging bottoms. We expect all children to wear the uniform whenever they are
at school, or if they are representing the school elsewhere. We believe this helps to
generate pride in personal appearance, a sense of group identity and cohesion, and pride
in what the school stands for. School sweatshirts and tee-shirts are available through the
PTA. Other items can be obtained at major stores.
