The Staff

The school prides itself on a strong team of well trained and hard-working teachers, committed to keeping up to date with educational change, who provide a stimulating, well-organised environment for learning. All have a firm foundation of teaching skills across the whole primary curriculum, and together they ensure that a good mix of specialist knowledge and enthusiasm is available. Teachers with responsibility for the core subjects (Maths, English, Science and ICT) have completed extensive in-service courses in recent years, while History, Geography and Art Co-ordinators have all undertaken stimulating courses which have had considerable impact upon the curriculum. Musical talents amongst the staff are supported by a professional peripatetic music teacher who visits the school weekly, and PE is led by a specialist teacher who ensures variety, challenge and opportunity in a range of sporting activity.

The school has it’s own minibus which is used to give children greater access to the wider community in curriculum time as well as after school and at weekends.

Time and Goodwill

In addition to dedicated staff and good facilities, the school benefits from a high level of commitment amongst parents, local retired teachers, and village residents who generously support the school in a variety of ways. These include help in the classroom, talks on topics of interest, donating time, money or resources to school events and publicity, being available to answer children’s questions and permitting access to property. All of these play a significant part in the school’s aim of broadening the children’s horizons and exposing them to a wide variety of stimulating educational contexts.
